Student Alliance
Medical students were given a voice in organized medicine
at the local level in 2000 when PCMS bylaws were amended
to include medical student representation. The PCMS
Medical Student Alliance was formed and the first student
joined the Board of Directors.
PCMS had historically provided assistance to a limited number
of Pulaski County medical students. In continuing efforts to
reach more students with information about organized medically
at the county, state and national levels, the Board of Directors
now hosts a free luncheon for the entire freshmen class during
orientation week at UAMS. Educational packets are provided and
students have an opportunity to visit with members of the Board
about a range of opportunities available to them following graduation.
Students are invited to join the Pulaski County Medical Society
under a special medical student category. This free membership
entitles them to receive PCMS News (monthly newsletter), a membership
directory, and invitations to social events throughout the year.
