Carrier Relations Committee Overview
The PCMS Carrier Relations Committee was formed in 2001
to improve communication between physicians and health
care payer groups; encourage fair and prompt payment for
physician services and to facilitate adequate access to
health care for patients. Complaints entered in the
program's database are used to prioritize trends and
facilitate discussion with carriers to resolve
complaints.
The Carrier Relations Committee (CRC) has now been
collecting "hassle factor" data since summer of 2001.
While responses got off to a fairly slow start, the rate
has been steady and clear trends are emerging. The
Committee encourages all PCMS members who have already
responded to continue documenting hassles and submit
completed forms. If you have not yet responded, please do
so as soon as possible.
In addition to continued data gathering, we will now start
work on documentation and remediation of the strongest
trends. Members, who have already submitted forms
indicating problems in the identified trend areas, may
be asked to provide further documentation. We expect
this phase to progress rapidly to remediation efforts.
Many thanks to all who have gone to the trouble to
complete and submit forms. The results of your efforts
will soon be evident.
